From San Diego, California, As I Lay Dying is an American metalcore band. Tim Lambesis (lead vocals) founded the band in 2000 and the band’s first full lineup included Lambesis’ Point of Recognition bandmate Jordan Mancino. The band has released 7 albums, 1 split album, and 2 compilation albums. Their current lineup include:
- Tim Lambesis – vocals (2000–2014, 2017–present)
- Jordan Mancino – drums (2000–2014, 2018–present)
- Phil Sgrosso – guitars, backing vocals (2003–2014, 2018–present)
- Nick Hipa – guitars, backing vocals (2003–2014, 2018–present)
- Josh Gilbert – bass, clean vocals (2006–2014, 2018–present)
After unknowingly contracting with an undercover policeman to put a hit out on his estranged wife, Lambesis was sentenced to 6 years in prison and was subsequently incarcerated.
As a result, the band took an indefinite break in 2014 when Lambesis was imprisoned. The remaining members formed a band called Wovenwar with vocalist Shane Blay. In 2018, Lambesis reunited with Hipa, Mancino, Sgrosso, and Gilbert.
