Formed in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987 and founded by lead singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic, Nirvana was an American rock band in the Seattle grunge scene, most prominent through the early 90s. Nirvana had gone through a long list of drummers searching for musical capability and personal dedication and Dave Grohl is the best-known of them having joined the band in 1990. Nirvana dissolved after Kurt Cobain’s apparent suicide in 1994 but had already made lasting changes to rock culture that continues to have a following and profound influence today with albums like “Nevermind” and songs like “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.
